Evolution is wild.

It’s clear that something (or everything) changes at The Co-Op Baja each low season. Over the past four years, we’ve gone from a co-working space & furnishings showroom in Las Tunas, to a bespoke jewel-box shop featuring tabletop & home goods in El Centro beside Hablando Mexicano.

For the two years that our shop evolved in the Otro Lado, lunches were taken at Shakti Bowl or Bonjour Madam, and our closest (and only) neighbors were The Magik Vortex, Saguaro Salon and a lot of construction. And while out of all of us, the Vortex alone remains, what has arrived is astounding. Family has taken over one part of our old space with Energy Cabo Solar, and the food and shopping selections walking distance from our old front door are downright dizzying.

And while perhaps less explosive, over the past year our shop in town has shifted quite a few times. Given its size, as furniture pieces find their forever homes, we re-envision the space each time with new arrivals. And so, as we approach the time of the year when things slow down and everyone prepares for weather changes, we consider what remains and what shifts yet again. Knowing a few constants are likely to remain:

  • We remain open through June, Monday - Wednesday from 11AM to 2PM with a large number of items on sale as we make way for a refresh.

  • We will be hosting monthly events during the low season.

  • With guidance from the Casa Cruz family, dyeing canvas and making it into functional artwork never gets old. New items are on the way.

  • There are so many incredible artisans carrying on the traditions passed down among generations, it’s hard to know what to feature next.

  • Furniture crafted in Baja Sur is always a good idea, it’s made for this environment by people you know. There’s a good chance you’ll save up to 4 months, and anywhere from 10 - 40% in shipping time & costs.

  • If you have questions about Know Your Water, answers are found here.

  • Si no hablas español, ¡te sugerimos que comiences a estudiar con las maestras de Hablando Mexicano ahorita!

  • Our commitment to dwelling well in Baja Sur is steadfast.
